The time it was five gold rings

Finally.  A gift that I can get behind! Here we are for day five of the 12 Days of Christmas giveaway!

Today we have the lovely Tamara Ireland Stone joining us.  Let's welcome her, yes?

When I was 9 years old I decided it would be fun to try to find my Christmas presents. I spent the whole month sneaking around, peeking under beds and checking the dark corners of my mom's closet. Finally, about a week before Christmas, I found the loot. It was all tucked into place on a high shelf in the hall closet, carefully hidden behind folded towels and blankets. I had to use a ladder to see everything. Bonanza. It was all there. I was elated.

Then came Christmas morning. To quote one of my favorite movies, I had an overwhelming sense of ickiness. As I opened each gift, I couldn't help but notice the looks on my parents' faces. They were waiting for me to light up with surprise and delight, and as hard as I tried I couldn't fake it. I got about three presents in before I broke down into tears. I told them everything. Of course, my mom gave me a big hug and hold me not work worry about it, but it didn't help. I'd ruined their Christmas and mine.

Since then, I've never wanted to know anything about my gifts. What can I say? I like surprises.

Huge thanks to Tamara for taking the time to do this!! Make sure you're following her on Twitter, liking her Facebook page, subscribing to her blog and adding all of her books on your GoodReads shelves.

And now the giveaway!

Anna and Bennett were never supposed to meet: she lives in 1995 Chicago and he lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett has the unique ability to travel through time and space, which brings him into Anna’s life, and with him a new world of adventure and possibility.

As their relationship deepens, the two face the reality that time may knock Bennett back to where he belongs, even as a devastating crisis throws everything they believe into question. Against a ticking clock, Anna and Bennett are forced to ask themselves how far they can push the bounds of fate, what consequences they can bear in order to stay together, and whether their love can stand the test of time.

Fresh, exciting, and deeply romantic, Time Between Us is a stunning, spellbinding debut from an extraordinary new voice in YA fiction.

Calling Anna and Bennett’s romance long distance is an understatement: she’s from 1995 Chicago and he’s a time traveler from 2012 San Francisco. The two of them never should have met, but they did. They fell in love, even though they knew they shouldn't. And they found a way to stay together, against all odds.

It’s not a perfect arrangement, though, with Bennett unable to stay in the past for more than brief visits, skipping out on big chunks of his present in order to be with Anna in hers. They each are confident that they’ll find a way to make things work...until Bennett witnesses a single event he never should have seen (and certainly never expected to). Will the decisions he makes from that point on cement a future he doesn't want?

Told from Bennett’s point of view, Time After Time will satisfy readers looking for a fresh, exciting, and beautifully-written love story, both those who are eager to find out what’s next for Time Between Us's Anna and Bennett and those discovering their story for the first time.
That's right, I have signed paperback copies of Time Between Us and Time After Time up for grabs. And they're the extra pretty UK copies. A second winner will receive a signed paperback of Time Between Us. Rules for the giveaway are under "terms and conditions" on the Rafflecopter widget, this contest is international! Oh, and don't forget that Bennett is mine, I have proof.

**Good Luck!!**

  3. Oh yes, just once. I can't remember how old I was, but I remember it was one of those old Game Boys. I didn't get caught, but I felt so guilty I never did it again. I thought I was going to hell just for looking. I love, love the covers of these books. I've read the first one and loved it. I haven't got to read the second one yet. Yet another fabulous choice. Thank you so much.

  4. My sister & I always peeked at our gifts a couple weeks before Christmas - and then we totally believed Santa brought anything we hadn't found already!

  5. OMG! I need a copy of these! I hope I win this would be the best Christmas gift of 2013 <3
Oh nope. Not at all. I'm always clueless. I even thought Santa Claus is real until I was 9 years old. I discovered through my experiment, by hanging a sock a few days before and after Christmas. They were always empty and always lost after a few days. That's when I thought Santa Claus is a fraud. :D

  7. I tried so many times when I was little, but would never make it far enough. Turns out signing Christmas songs while doing it isn't exactly stealthy.

  8. No, I haven't-I like them to be a surprise! A few years ago though I looked at my parents' computer and accidentally saw in my mom's email that she had bought us a Wii so that ruined the surprise of that! It was still a great gift though, and I don't think my mom ever found out ;)

    These covers are so gorgeous!!

  12. me and my brother sneaked a peek at out presents once or twice as kids. when my parents weren't home, we went in the closet where the presents were, LOL

  13. When my brother and I were little my mom used to wrap the presents early and put them under the tree. Well when she was sleeping we would carefully cut the tape, see what we got, then rewrap them. She didn't know we did this until a few years ago. She also used to take us shopping for the other one but we'd just tell each other what we go.

  23. I've never tried to sneak a peek--it takes all the fun out of it! Though now that I'm older, I already know what most of my presents are before Christmas anyways! Lol

  24. Yes, I've sneaked a peek at my presents before! I used to do it a lot! Luckily, I NEVER got caught!

  25. I did, but I really preferred being surprised. One year, though, I did completely unwrap one gift a few days early with my mom's permission. She hadn't seen Half-Blood Prince, and we all knew that's what that present was. So I completely opened that sucker, we watched it, then I put it back in the exact wrapping paper I'd pulled it from, and stuck it under the tree. Mom and I giggled when I unwrapped it on Christmas Day and my sister fussed at us for doing it.

  26. We tried, but my mom addressed them in code so we could never figure out whose was whose!

  27. No way! I never peeked at my presents. I've always love surprises. I remember in fifth grade accidentally finding my two-tape VHS copy of Titanic in my mom's shopping bag before Christmas and being really upset. Even now as an adult I ask her before going into her bedroom if the coast is clear!

    ReplyDelete
  28. No because my parents were really good at hiding them and I didn't want to ruin my own surprise! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. When I was younger I used to feel and shake the presents and try to guess what was inside them, but I have never ripped or peaked inside the wrapping. :)

  30. I think I have.. I'm not sure. :)

  32. Nope, I've never peeked at my gifts, but I give J a hell of a grilling every year during the Christmas just to give him a hard time about it. It's kind of our thing LOL. And I should have said Time Between Us and Time After Time in the last post. So many damn feels. *sigh* Thank you for the chance at the giveaway!
