The time it was a love in bloom hop

Well.  Here we are with another amazing blog hop.  This one is hosted by I Am a Reader, Not a Writer and Portrait of a Book.

When I saw the description being a "lighthearted/contemporary YA romance", I immediately thought of Meant to Be by Lauren Morrill.

Meant to be or not meant to be . . . that is the question.

It's one thing to fall head over heels into a puddle of hazelnut coffee, and quite another to fall for the—gasp—wrong guy. Straight-A junior Julia may be accident prone, but she's queen of following rules and being prepared. That's why she keeps a pencil sharpener in her purse and a pocket Shakespeare in her, well, pocket. And that's also why she's chosen Mark Bixford, her childhood crush, as her MTB ("meant to be").

But this spring break, Julia's rules are about to get defenestrated (SAT word: to be thrown from a window) when she's partnered with her personal nemesis, class-clown Jason, on a school trip to London. After one wild party, Julia starts receiving romantic texts . . . from an unknown number! Jason promises to help discover the identity of her mysterious new suitor if she agrees to break a few rules along the way. And thus begins a wild goose chase through London, leading Julia closer and closer to the biggest surprise of all: true love.

Because sometimes the things you least expect are the most meant to be.

Sweet, swoony and set in London.  What more could you possibly need?

  1. Thanks for the giveaway! It's hard to choose one favorite contemporary, since it's my favorite genre...but the top ones that come to mind are The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Eleanor & Park! :) I could read those over and over again.

  4. I really don't read a lot of contemporary, though I have been wanting to read MEANT TO BE (and also ELEANOR & PARK), so I'll go with one I read very recently and just adored - THE SUMMER I BECAME A NERD by Leah Rae Miller. I've been meaning to ask you if you've read this one yet! If not, I have a feeling you'd like it as much as I did...and while Logan is certainly no Ben (I mean, come on...), he was definitely swoony to me!!! He was EXACTLY the type I'd have fallen for in high school...oh and college...well and really like my husband too... hey, some things you just never grow out of!! ;) Plus I simply adored the main character, Maddie. So much of what she did was so similar to me...except I never tried to hide my nerdiness!! Which really means that it's the author herself who's probably similar to me in some respects - so if you ever meet her, get her sig for me!!!! (See how I brought it all back to how you run this whole shindig?! I'm gold like that.) Happy to see you on the hop!!

  5. Oh man, there's so many good contemporary novels... and I'm terrible at choosing favorites. I think would have to choose ANYTHING by Sarah Dessen. I love her so much. Or maybe something loved by many like Anna and the French Kiss.
